This optional check helps estimate whether your panel is likely ready for EV charging, or whether a lower charging speed or load management may make more sense.

Would you like to do a load calculation? You can skip the load calculation and still send your estimate for review. Home square footage Use conditioned living space if possible. Small-appliance branch circuits Count dedicated small-appliance circuits like a dishwasher, microwave, or disposal. Main service rating Usually printed on the main breaker or service equipment label. 200A is the most common residential service size. Main breaker size if different Only change this if the breaker size is clearly different. Panel brand / model Helpful but not required.

Major appliances

For each item, choose yes, no, or not sure. If you know the load in volt-amperes (VA), you can enter it. If not, Watt-Zen will use a reasonable estimate.

Electric range / oven Default 8,000 VA if you have one and leave the VA field blank.

Electric dryer Default 5,000 VA minimum if you leave the VA field blank.

Electric water heater Default 4,500 VA if you have one and leave the VA field blank.

Air conditioner Enter VA from the condenser label if known. Otherwise we use 3,500 VA.

Heat pump Enter VA from the nameplate if known. Otherwise we use 5,000 VA.

Electric furnace / baseboard heat Enter VA from the heater label if known. If not, we use 10,000 VA and lower confidence.

Electric heat strips Enter VA from the equipment label if known. If not, we use 10,000 VA.

Second EV charger existing or planned If you know the charging output, multiply amps by 240. Example: 32A charging = 7,680 VA.

Other large 240V appliance Optional catch-all for unusual equipment if you know the VA.

Hot tub / spa If you only know breaker size, multiply breaker amps by 240 for an estimate. Example: 50A breaker = 12,000 VA.

Pool equipment If you only know breaker size, multiply breaker amps by 240 for a rough VA estimate.

Welder / large shop equipment Include any major intermittent 240V load in VA if you know it.

Additional custom load (VA) Use this if we missed something and you already know the approximate VA.
